Keith Douglas Sherman

Feb 2, 1930 - June 27, 2023

Keith Sherman was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Frederick Newton Sherman and Margaret (Johnson) Sherman. Keith's family moved to San Jose, California in 1936 and then to Vallejo, California on the fateful day of December 7, 1941. Keith met Anne (Montgomery) in the Vallejo First Presbyterian Church choir, and they married in 1954.  Anne preceded him in death by 6 years.

Keith graduated from Vallejo High School in 1948 and joined the Marine Corps Reserve. He completed active duty in 1952 1951 and worked at the bank in downtown Petaluma, CA (until recently, this historic building housed Vintage Bank Antiques.) He then joined Morris Plan in Vallejo as a loan officer loan officer. In the early 70's, Keith joined Shop 51 on Mare Island as an electrical worker Electrical Worker.  He retired in 1985 1991 or 92? to fulfill his dream of becoming a small plane pilot.  Keith and Anne flew all over the U.S. in their Cessna airplane, from Alaska to Florida to D.C. He sold his last plane in summer of 2022 and vacated his hanger hangar at the Napa County airport. He also had a lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles, competing in motorcycle enduro races. He sang tenor in the Napa & Vacaville Barbershop Choruses for many decades, and in a barbershop quartet, performing in competitions and local productions of the Music Man.

Keith is survived by his children Doug, Cathy (Kardach) and Margaret, his three grandchildren Carolyn, Tommy, and Lizzy, and two great grandchildren, Evie, and Porter. His youngest brother Fred is the only surviving sibling of four children. Sister Patricia (Bauer) passed away in 2015. Their beloved brother Dean (1932-1946) was run over by a bus in downtown Vallejo and died from his injuries.

The family feels fortunate that Keith spent his final two weeks with the family in the Sierras, which has been the Sherman home-away-from-home since 1965.

A memorial service will be held on August 19, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo.
